I am totally loving Columbus. The work is interesting, and the people are fun to be around. To illustrate: I ended up out and about yesterday with my boss and two of the guys in my department over at the verizon wireless store so they could get their new phones up and running and decided to run by the ATM to drop off a couple of checks. Of course, when I get back to the VZW store, they are gone, and have taken the car and moved it. Grr. So I call my boss: "where are you?" sounding more bored than annoyed. They had moved the car and gone to Circuit City to look at holders. Grrr.
Also, I like what I do. I spent most of last week in training, but the week before that I spent writing Matlab (TM) scripts to deal with data maniuplation. I have never really liked programming, nor have I ever really enjoyed working with Matlab, but when I finished, I felt good about what I had done and pleased with the way the coding had ended up being pretty clean. Also, the Mathworks helpdesk is actually helpful, so don't be afraid to call them, unlike the helpdesk at work. That still makes me angry that the helpdesk and the software guys were basically just kicking my help tickets back and forth. grr.
