Hmmm....

Mel and I finally caught up with each other for lunch today (P.F. Chang's downtown) to rather belatedly celebrate her birthday. Hot topics were obviously my upcoming nupitals, but most of it was spent talking about job stuff. I was counting earlier today and have 5 friends that were laid off/downsized/let go in the last couple of months along with another dozen or so acquaintences.

The obvious problem aside, one of the big hurdles for anyone out here in the midwest is that everyone is looking for work, and there are really not many jobs. Hell, Caterpillar (only a few hours from Indy) is laying off 20,000 workers and that overlaps pretty significantly with a lot of my friends who are looking for work. Hopefully Alex is safe.... I should be unless a lot of people pretty much bail on paying us, but that is the same boat several other friends are in.

From what I have been reading and hearing, general prognosis is economic rebound in mid- to late- 2009 with the employment rebound following a year later. Good thing we could live off one salary if we had too, I guess

Comments:
Yeah I am def. feeling the job crunch as we are both looking for jobs for post-graduation.....at least we decided that we are completely mobile...
